Violet Faye Armstrong (neé Knell), 80 of Aberdeen, Ohio, returned to her heavenly home in the early morning hours of March 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.  Violet was born on March 19, 1945 in Newsome Holler at Camp Dix in Lewis County, Kentucky to Linza and Dollie (Bloomfield) Knell.

Violet is survived by many loved ones including four daughters by birth, one daughter-in-law and one son by marriage; Wanda (Dennis) Gibson of Evansville, IN, Hope (Stacy) Lykins of Tollesboro, KY, Ginger Armstrong of Georgetown, OH, Nicole (Jamie Bolar) Armstrong of Ripley, OH, Ralina (Phillip) Armstrong of Henderson, KY and Charles (Diane) Armstrong of Ava, Ohio.  Violet was blessed with many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren with all but one surviving her.   Violet will be deeply missed by her brother, Roger Knell of Benton, OH and devoted friends, Dale Fetters and Nick Teegarden.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband of forty-years, Harold Bruce Armstrong; as well as her parents and eight siblings, whom she loved and missed dearly.  Sisters Marie Riley, Frances Gilliam, Alice Buckner and Diane Adams.  Brothers Roscoe (Buck), Elwood, Raymond and Estill Knell.  She also survived the loss of three children, two by birth, and one by marriage; Chloie Armstrong, Phillip Armstrong and Lucas (Kenneth) Armstrong.

To her family she was the constant, true north of their lives.  She shared her knowledge of nature as a gardener and farmer, raising and preserving nearly everything while charming bees and grandbabies alike.  She was an avid angler and excellent hunter, still holding the family record.  She shared her love and talents in many ways from handmade quilts to homemade desserts in a home full of memories and wisdom with a wood stove set to broil.

Violet devoted her life to the Lord.  Through her faith and grace she will forever be remembered. She was more precious than rubies to her husband, her children rose up and called her blessed.  She had a collection of Bibles, each with many notes, instructions, and prayer lists.  In one Bible, next to the last page on which she wrote the songs for her funeral was the message, “God is at the end of our life.  So stride ahead and don’t look back.”

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 4, 2025 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Private burial will be in the family cemetery.
