Terry Mccane

Terrence “Terry” Robert McCane, age 85 of Franklinton, North Carolina and formerly of Burlington, Kentucky and Georgetown, Ohio passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at his residence. He was born October 31, 1938 in Brooksville, Kentucky to the late Joseph Robert and Edyth Merwin (King) McCane.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife -Viola K. "Vi" McCane in 2013, one son - Mark McCane and two brothers – Rodney McCane and Tommy McCane.

Mr. McCane is survived by one daughter - Christy McCane Campbell and husband Ryan; their five children - Abby Grace, Elizabeth, Isaac, Lily, and Abraham; one step-son - Greg Blankenship and his son -Jacob Free and his grandson - Maddox McCane along with a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and other loving family.

Terry graduated from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky with a business degree.  During his time there, he lettered in track and field. He spent most of his adult life selling cars in and around the Cincinnati area.  For the past 16 years, he has worked as a courier for a non-profit organization in the Raleigh Durham region.  Terry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching every kind of sport imaginable and eating good food. He was a University of Kentucky basketball fan for the entirety of his life and like all true UK fans, he had a special disdain for Duke. Most Sundays, you could find him attending his Sunday School class at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville, North Carolina, where he especially enjoyed eating the breakfast treats made by his classmates. Terry’s family loved to tease him about his recliner, his extreme frugality and his love for frozen burritos and pizzas.  He always took their jests with his typical good nature, which was known by all with whom he came in contact.  While incredibly practical, Terry had a soft spot for his grandchildren and had a gaggle of folks who counted him as a kind and helpful friend.

Following services in Wake Forest, North Carolina, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio with a Celebration of Life lunch immediately following.
