Rita Jane (Hammond) Keeney

Rita Jane Keeney, age 65 of Bethel, Ohio and formerly of Hamersville, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 peacefully at her home. She was born December 31,1959 in Chillicothe, Ohio the daughter of Beatrice “Bobbie” (Gumm) Hammond of Hamersville, Ohio and the late Lloyd “Chub” Edward Hammond. Rita was a homemaker and the true meaning of a caretaker. Those who knew and loved her, would say that she took pride in doing so. She was never hesitant to make sure those around her were taken care of and never asked for anything in return. Rita lived a selfless life and found the greatest joy in seeing happiness in those she loved. She was a loving mother, grandmother, long hair mamaw, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and daughter. Besides to her father in 2007, Rita was proceeded in death by one sister - Dorothea “Dottie” June Seaman.

In addition to her mother, Ms. Keeney is survived by her spouse of over 25 years - Ernie Hess; two sons - Mike Keeney of Batavia, Ohio and Lee Keeney and wife Lauren of Bethel, Ohio; one bonus-son - Brian Hess and wife Rachelle of Bethel, Ohio; two step-daughters – Erin Hess and Teresa Hess; six grandchildren - David, Samantha, Nevaeh, Laiken, Liliya and Waylon; four bonus-grandchildren- Trevor, Brianna, Jace and Angel; six step-grandchildren – Olivia, Maria, Devin, Dakota, Ethan and Skyla; one brother- Lloyd E Hammond, Jr. and wife Marcy of Lecanto, Florida; two sisters- Teresa Georgin and husband Gary of Cincinnati, Ohio and Janet Boshears and husband Mike of Batavia, Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews and her sidekick and fur baby -Lucky.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. There will be no funeral services. Private interment will be at the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio at the convenience of the family.
