Nancy Elizabeth (Stenger) Smith

Nancy Elizabeth (Stenger) Smith passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on February 26, 2022, at the age of 64 after a long, courageous fight with cancer. She leaves behind her husband, Greg Smith, their daughter, Angela Smith, and their granddaughter, Emma. Nancy was preceded in death by their son, Gregory Smith and her parents, John E.Stenger and Henrietta E. (Specht) Stenger.

Nancy was born on September 24, 1957, in Cincinnati, OH. She grew up in a large, loving family with four sisters and two brothers.

Nancy married her best friend Greg on February 25, 1977. She worked for GTE and became one of the first woman pole climbers in the area. She then went to work for Brown County Child Support until her decision to become a full-time caregiver to their son, Gregory who passed away on May 8, 2017.

Nancy worked hard and had a huge heart. She loved her family and friends and would drop everything to help anyone in need. When diagnosed with breast cancer, she remained upbeat and dedicated in her will to fight. We miss her terribly but take great comfort in knowing that she is at peace and in loving hands. We have gained the best guardian angel!

Nancy is survived by her husband, daughter, and granddaughter, as well as her sisters, Dottie Loudon (Tim Marks), Cynthia Noffsinger (Mike), Theresa Stenger, and Patty Kenney (Nick); her brothers, John E. Stenger (Sue), and Tim Stenger (Teresa); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy requested there be no services and we respect her wishes. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital for their loving, constant, attentive treatment; and the Cahall Funeral Home for making the arrangements.
