Merrill Shelton

Merrill Shelton, age 92 of Georgetown, Ohio died Monday, May 15, 2006 at the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. He was a farmer and a member of the Aberdeen Baptist Church. He was born on December 9, 1913 in Aberdeen, Ohio the son of the late George Washington and Sudie M. (Cornette) Shelton. He was also preceded in death by his wife Minnie K. (Sparks) Shelton, three sisters, Viva Bennett, Goldie Dunn and Ida Schultz and six brothers, Leslie, Hubert, Orville, Lafe, Guy and Ted Shelton.
Mr. Shelton is survived by two sons - Henry M. Shelton and Joseph A. Shelton and wife Janie all of Georgetown, Ohio; four grandchildren - Brenda, Ralph and Joey Shelton and Vicki Carrington; two step grandchildren - Brandie L. Carter and Janelle Lynn Shields; six great grandchildren - Scottie Joe and Amanda N. Vanfleet, Brianna Shelton, and Alexandra, Mackenzi and Sydney Jo Carrington; six step grandchildren - Beth, Eric and Andy Courts and Ally, Isabella and Lonnie Shields, Jr.; one great great grandson - Anthony Dillon Smith and one sister - Esther Thackston of Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 18, 2006 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Bill Collett will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
