Mrs. Mary Y. Black, age 82 of Ripley, Ohio died Friday October 14 at Brown Co. General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Ripley, Ohio and was retired from The U.S. Shoe Co., where she worked as a Floor Lady in the fitting room. She was born on March 18, 1923 in Adams County, Ohio the daughter of the late James and Margaret Chambers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifton L. (Joe) Black; two sisters, Adrienne Gaffin and Betty Fender; one brother, Junior Chambers.
Mrs. Black is survived by one daughter, Joyce Said of Ft. Thomas, KY.; one son, Cecil Black and wife Shirley of Ripley, Ohio; three grandchildren - Rebecca Black Townsend and husband Todd of Hamilton, Ohio, Andrew Black and wife Shannon of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Jeffrey Said of Ft. Thomas, KY.; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Bristle of Mt. Orab, Ohio; two brothers, Richard Chambers of Monroe, WA. and Bob Chambers of New Market, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 17, 2005 at The First Presbyterian Church in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Jim Rawlings will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 16 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio.
