Marguerite Elizabeth "Betty" Slater, age 96 of Charleston, West Virginia died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at The Ohio Valley Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center near Ripley, Ohio, where she had resided since 1999. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Charleston, West Virginia and a member of The St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary in Charleston, West Virginia. Mrs. Slater was born on November 1, 1909 in Oil City Pennsylvania the daughter of the late William G. and Margaret Elizabeth (Hare) Eckert. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Slater.
Mrs. Slater is survived by three daughters - Betsy Billingsly and husband Vic of Ripley, Ohio, Rebecca Brown and husband Dave of Sunset Beach, North Carolina and Judith Morgan of Huntsville, Alabama; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 9, 2006 at The St. Anthony Catholic Church in Charleston, West Virginia. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday, January 8 at The Wilson Funeral Home in Charleston, West Virginia. Rosary service at 8:30 P.M.. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Charleston, West Virginia. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Ohio Valley Manor Activities Fund, 5280 US Route 68 Ripley, Ohio 45167 -or- Multiple Sclerosis Research.
