Joe Holton, age 78, of Decatur, Ohio died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Holton was a farmer, a World War II Army veteran, honorary member of the Byrd Township Fire Department, past Byrd Township Trustee, member of the Liberty Chapel Church, Brown County Farm Bureau and lifetime member of the Farmers Union. He was born on July 10, 1927 in Ripley, Ohio the son of the late Nicholas Lewis and Mary (Liggett) Holton. He was also preceded in death by two brothers - Ralph and Frank Holton and one sister, Mary Effie Holton Crossmock.

Mr. Holton is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Tatman) Holton; three daughters - JoAnn Fauth and husband, Bill of Ripley, Ohio, Jean Bolender and husband, Randy of Russellville, Ohio and Janice Gray and husband, Larry of Cherry Fork, Ohio; four grandchildren - Ashley and Adam Bolender, both of Russellville, Ohio, Jody Daniels of Cherry Fork, Ohio and Jason Daniels of Orlando, Florida; one great granddaughter, Paige Lee Demlow; one brother, Chester A. Holton of Russellville, Ohio and one sister-in-law - Carol Holton of Georgetown, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 P.M. Wednesday evening. Interment will be in the Decatur Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the Byrd Township Fire Department or the Byrd Township Community Center.
