John A. Richey

John Allan Richey, age 59 of Hamersville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at the Mt.Orab Mercy Health Center in Mt.Orab, Ohio. He was a retired auto mechanic and the owner and operator of J & R Auto Sales in Hamersville, Ohio, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2293 in Georgetown, Ohio, enjoyed carpentry and landscaping and loved spending time with his family. John was a loving husband, devoted dad, proud papaw, caring son and brother, uncle and a great friend that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was born March 13, 1965 in Georgetown, Ohio the son of Bobbie Carol (Sellers) Richey of Ameila, Ohio and the late Starling David Lee Richey. Besides his father in 2015, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law – Jess Edward and Betty Elizabeth Hunley.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Richey is survived by his loving wife of 38 years – Brenda Sue (Hunley) Richey whom he married May 10, 1986; two children – John “Jr” Richey, Jr. and wife Ashley of Mt.Orab, Ohio and Crystal Liming and husband Justin of Hamersville, Ohio; four grandchildren – Madison and Harper Richey and Kayleigh and Harley Liming; two brothers – David Lee Richey and wife Rhonda of Batavia, Ohio and Rob Richey and wife Melissa of Fairfield, Ohio; one sister – Hope Locke and husband Rob of Amelia, Ohio; six nieces and nephews – Trishia Rutherford and husband David, David Richey, Jr. and wife Brittany, Heather Jones and husband Tyler, Amber Locke, Wyatt Richey and Lydia Richey and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the Mt. Nebo Global Methodist Church, 11693 State Route774, Bethel, Ohio 45106. Jeremy Rutherford will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the church. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Feesburg, Ohio. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
