Mr. John Wayne (John Boy) Lykins, age 59 of Aberdeen, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at his residence. He was a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran and was awarded many medals for his service to his country, including the Purple Heart. John was an employee of Dayton Power & Light for thirty years and was a former fireman and E.M.T. for the Aberdeen Fire Dept. and Life Squad. He was also a member of The Millcreek Christian Church, The V.F.W. in Ripley, Ohio, the Moose Lodge in Maysville, KY. and was an avid bowler at the Town and Country Lanes in Aberdeen, Ohio. Even though John fought a battle with cancer for over a year, he never stopped smiling or loving his family, friends or the Lord.

John was born on December 4, 1947 at Hayswood Hospital in Maysville KY., the son of Alene (Clary) Lykins and the late Everett Mitchell Lykins. He was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, John and Rosa Lykins and maternal grandparents, Arthur and Stella Clary.

In addition to his mother, Alene Lykins, John is survived by one daughter, Kristy Lykins Ellis of Hillsboro, Ohio; two grandchildren, Chip Hilderbrand of Aberdeen, Ohio and Erica Hilderbrand of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Debbie Stone and husband Steve of Morehead, KY.; one brother, Jerry Lykins and wife Angie of Maysville, KY.; four nephews - Kevin and Michael Lykins, both of Maysville, Tony Lykins of Pittsburg, PA. and Trevor Stone of Morehead, KY.; two nieces - Tabitha Stone of Morehead, KY. and Stephanie Fryman of Maysville, KY.; several great nieces and nephews and special friends, Doris and Wilbur Gaither of Ripley, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 29, 2007 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Pastors Allan Hutchinson and David Wirth will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hiett's Chapel Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by The American Legion Post #367 of Ripley, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to: Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr. Maysville, KY. 41056.
