John Edgar Leonard

John E. Leonard, age 74 of Ripley, Ohio died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Leonard was a truck driver, a school bus driver for the Ripley Union Lewis Huntington school district, a Korean War Air Force Veteran, a member of the Ripley First Presbyterian Church and served the Ripley community as vice mayor and as a council member. He was born in Poetown, Ohio on April 30, 1933 the son of the late Absalom and Mabel (Van Landingham) Leonard. He was also preceded in death by his wife of forty-three years, Peggy Ann (Brierly) Leonard in 1996.

Mr. Leonard is survived by six children - Debbie Leonard of Ripley, Ohio, Candy Meeker and husband Gene of Russellville, Ohio, Bill Leonard and wife LeAnne of Georgetown, Ohio, Tom Leonard and wife Kathy of Ripley, Ohio, Albert Leonard and wife Cora Sue of Ripley, Ohio and Jim Leonard and wife Bonnie of Ripley, Ohio; seven grandchildren - David, Lisa, Courtney, Hagen, Dustin, Joe and Ashley Leonard and one great grandchild - Julie Leonard.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Ripley First Presbyterian Church, 114 Mulberry Street in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. Jim Rawlings will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 -9 P.M. Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the Ripley First Presbyterian Church, 114 Mulberry Street, Ripley, Ohio 45167, the Ripley Fire Department or Life Squad, Ripley, Ohio 45167. The Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio is serving the family.
