Virgil Eugene Howard, age 71 of Ripley, Ohio died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a retired machinist from Cincinnati Milacron, a member of the Ripley Church of Christ and a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was born on May 1, 1934 in Aberdeen, Ohio, the son of the late Virgil L. Howard and Helen M. (Carpenter) Howard. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Howard and one brother, Tommy Howard.
Mr. Howard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda (Newberry) Howard; five daughters - Pam Volkman and husband Al of Yakima, Washington; Stephanie Frebis and husband Jim of Batavia, Ohio; Jackie Kirk and husband Donald Paul of London, Ohio; Patsy Spiller of Mt. Orab, Ohio and Nikki Spiller and husband Chris of Ripley, Ohio; one son, Michael Howard and wife Sandy of Eatonville, Washington; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three sisters - Carolyn Wilson of Ripley, Ohio, Paula Washington of Beavercreek, Ohio and Judith Dunbar of Pasadena, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 23, 2005 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. John Neu will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio. If desired, memorials may be made to The Ripley Church of Christ or to The Howard Family.
