Evelyn was a dedicated employee of the Scioto Valley School District where she served students as a health aide and classroom aide for many years until her retirement. She attended the Piketon United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. During the summer months, Evelyn and Bill traveled to all fifty states and took several cruises, including to Panama Canal and Alaska. She and Bill always looked forward to their annual trip to Whitehaven Cottages on Manitoulin Island in Ontario, Canada, where they fished for over 60 years on Lake Huron. This past summer at the age of 92, Evelyn traveled to Canada without her partner for the first time and managed to catch more fish than her children and grandchildren. Evelyn’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joys of her life and Mamaw’s donut holes were legendary to all of them. Evelyn and Bill loved going to Sebring, Florida from October to April each year where they made many new friends.

Evelyn was a fiercely independent lady. She returned to Florida after the death of her spouse in 2021. Following a stroke in August of 2022, she was determined to regain her strength, mobility and speech. With the help of family and other caregivers, she defied the odds and returned to Florida in January of 2023.
