Eugene F. Evans

Eugene Ferdinand “Gene” Evans, age 81 of Amelia, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday, September 7, 2023 at his residence. He was the owner and operator of Evans Excavating, a lifelong farmer and a member of the Sardinia Church of Christ in Sardinia, Ohio. Gene was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, caring brother, faithful friend but above all a good and faithful servant of God. He was born July 30, 1942 at home in Mt.Orab, Ohio the oldest of thirteen children born to the late Vincent Carl and Magdalen Mary (Benz) Evans. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-daughter – Jennifer Fiscus in 2007 and two brothers – Robert and Steve Evans.

Mr. Evans is survived by his loving wife of 39 years – Diane (Boyd) Evans whom he married July 16, 1984; two step-daughters that he raised as his own – Rhonda Reiser and husband Steve of Amelia, Ohio and Julie Schuckmann and husband Douglas of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; one step-son-in-law – Aric Fiscus of Sardinia, Ohio; eight grandchildren – Phillip “P.J.” Fiscus, Chloe Manning, Samuel Brown, Brady Hoeper, Robert Kelly, Jennifer Reiser and Dylan and Daniel Haigwood; two great grandchildren – Rowan and Lorelei Manning; ten brothers and sisters – David Evans, Donna Evans, Sylvia Murphy, Ruth Evans, Mary Davis, Rita Jakres, Joseph Evans, Marian Evans, Richard Evans and Karen Croghan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene was a devoted husband to Diane and the two were inseparable. His life was a testament to his gentle, kind nature, and his faith in God unwavering. He found his greatest joy in working, tending to his animals and helping others, leaving a lasting impact on the world. Gene's legacy is one of love, kindness, and service to the Lord, forever etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Sardinia Cemetery in Sardinia, Ohio. Brett Parker will officiate. The Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio is serving the family.
