Elwood “Woody” Pollitt, 89 of Ripley, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Hospice of the Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville, Kentucky. He was a United States Marine Corps Korean War Veteran and a member of American Legion Post 367 in Ripley, Ohio. He was a retired welder from Cincinnati Milacron and a farmer. Mr. Pollitt was born May 25, 1934 in Orangeburg, Kentucky the son of the late Calvin and Flossie (Simms) Pollitt. He was also preceded in death by his wife – Jean Pollitt; a daughter – Darlene Horn and a grandson – Joshua Thornberry.
Mr. Pollitt is survived by two daughters – Bonnie Leonard (Jim) of Ripley, Ohio and Sherrie Mefford of Maysville, Kentucky; two sons – Jackie Pollitt and James Pollitt, both of Ripley; ten grandchildren – Lacee Mains, Robert Mefford (Paulette), Ashley Henschen (Corey), Dustin Leonard (Lindsey), Eric Pollitt (Melissa), Marie Pollitt (Jeff Brown), Jay Pollitt (Brandy), Bradley Pollitt (Amber), Tony Horn and Ricky Horn; seventeen great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio. Pastor John Neu will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 367 of Ripley, Ohio.
