Edward Earl Metze, Jr., age 69 of Ripley, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at his residence near Ripley, Ohio. He was a United States Marine Corp. Korean War Veteran and a Boilermaker for Local Union #105. He was a member of The Ripley Lions Club, a lifetime member of The DAV and was known for playing Santa Claus during the Christmas season for many organizations in Ripley and the surrounding communities. Mr. Metze was born on February 15, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late Edward Earl and Marcellia (Mayer) Metze, Sr.. He was also preceded in death by one stillborn son and one brother, Michael Lee Metze.
Mr. Metze is survived by four daughters - Dorena Cox of Lebanon, Ohio; Stacey Lynn Donaldson of Columbus, Ohio; Katherine Ann Metze of Ripley, Ohio and Nancy Metze of Cincinnati, Ohio; four sons - Edward Earl Metze, III and Melvin Louis Metze of Missouri, Timothy and Louis Metze of Florida; six grandchildren; two sisters- Rosemary Eglian of Amelia, Ohio and Marie Barger of Jacksonville, Alabama; one brother, Thomas J. Metze of Batavia, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio. Veterans services will be provided by Courts Fussnecker American Legion Post # 367 of Ripley, Ohio.
