David Lee Sward, Sr.

David Lee Sward, Sr., age 68 of Ripley, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Kentucky. He was a retired factory worker for the Fairfield Manufacturing Company, a United States Army veteran and enjoyed fishing. David was born in Taylor County, Wisconsin on August 5, 1955 the second of twelve children born to the late Alvin Oscar and Patricia N. (Kellnhofer) Sward. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers – Charles Kenneth Sward and Robert Lee Sward.

Mr. Sward is survived by his wife of 31 years – Leah J. (Edmisten) Sward whom he married July 17, 1993; five children – Shelly McKaig and Dawn Hazel and husband Brad both of Indiana, David Sward, Jr. and wife Jasmine of Illinois, Brandy Bryant and husband Marty of Russellville, Ohio and Courtney Faris of Georgetown, Ohio; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; one brother – Scott Sward and wife Taeko of Indiana; eight sisters – Cynthia Rumple and husband David and Sandra Vandenberg and husband Les both of Illinois, Suzanne Ricketts, Mary Johnson and husband Willy, Heidi Flood and husband Kenny, Sara Steele and husband Shawn, Jeanne Jackson and Teri Sward all of Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio.
