Clarence J. "Dee" Loper, Sr., age 81, of Georgetown, Ohio died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. Mr. Loper was a concessionaire in the carnival business and a World War II Navy veteran. He was also a member of the Carey-Bavis American Legion Post #180 in Georgetown and the Disabled American Veterans in Ripley, Ohio. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 5, 1923 the son of the late Jasper Frank and Ellen (Bocook) Loper. He was also preceded in death by his son, Clarence Loper, Jr.
Mr. Loper is survived by his wife, Mildred (Tolle) Loper; two daughters, Dee (Jeff) Edge of Georgetown, Ohio and Linda (Jim) Hickey of North Port, Florida; 10 step children - Linda (Harry) Fithen and Diana Bauer both of Maysville, Kentucky, Phyllis (Carlos) Fields of Fayetteville, Ohio, Jeannie (Hanson) Jones, Marsha (Roger) Fite, Jack (Shelley) Jolley and Kevin Jolley, all of Ripley, Ohio, Nora (John) Riggs, Jim (Debbie) Jolley, both of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Larry (Karen) Jolley of Goodwater, Alabama; 5 brothers and sisters - Jimmy Loper of California, Robert Loper and Reba Newman, both of Florida, and Eileen Ratliffe and Mary Martino, both of Columbus, Ohio; also many grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the Georgetown Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Les McLaughlin will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 - 9 P.M. Friday evening at the church. Interment will be in Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown with military services by the Carey-Bavis American Legion Post #180. Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
