Charles L. Washington

Charles L. "Boots" Washington, Sr. age 78 of Ripley, Ohio, died Friday, August 4, 2006 at his shop near Ripley, Ohio. He was a retired Sgt. First Class, United States Army Korean War Veteran and a member of The May's Lick Second Christian Church in May's Lick, Ky.. After his retirement from The Army, he worked as Parts Manager for Borcherding Buick in Cincinnati, Ohio and also worked in maintenance at The DP&L Killen Station. Mr. Washington was born on August 11, 1927 in May's Lick, KY., the son of the late George and Izetta (Anderson) Washington. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Robert and Elliott Washington and two special Aunts, Geraldine Green and Fannie Anderson.

Mr. Washington is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Arietta (Settles) Washington; three daughters - Denise Renay Thompson of Wilmington, Ohio, Andrea Lynn Brown of Wilmington, Ohio and Tracee Bea Cloyd of Ripley, Ohio; five sons - Charles L. Washington, Jr. of Morehead, KY., Clifton E. Washington of Beavercreek, Ohio, Timothy Ray Washington of Wilmington, N.C., Daniel Dion Washington, Sr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Benjamin Dean Washington of Ripley, Ohio; twenty one grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters - Bernice W. Green of Maysville, KY. and Carolyn J. Wilson of Springfield, Ma..

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Rev. James Settles will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 8, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley, Ohio. Military services will be provided by The American Legion Post #367 of Ripley, Ohio.
