Carroll C. Cunningham

Carroll C. Cunningham, age 87 of West Union, Ohio and formerly of Parkersburg, West Virginia passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Ripley, Ohio. He was a retired factory work for Ideal Corrugated Box in Parkersburg, Ohio and Custom Container in Cincinnati, Ohio. Carroll enjoyed playing the banjo, fishing and spending time with his loved ones. He was an avid lover of bluegrass music, enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals, lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan, avid bowler and for many years enjoyed coaching his daughters softball team. Carroll had a vivacious spirit and a loving sense of humor that will be greatly missed. He was born April 9, 1936 in Calhoun, West Virginia the son of the late Will and Tausa “Tootie” (Wilson) Cunningham. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years whom he married January 29, 1960 – Christina (Simons) Cunningham in 2014, two sons-in- law – Scott Barrick in 2003 and Danny Sharrard in 2022 and five brothers – Harold Colvin, William Page, Forrest Ray, Don Ellis and Ronald L. Cunningham.

Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife – Janet (Stephens) Cunningham; one daughter – Teresa Cunningham Barrick-Sharrard of Ripley, Ohio; three grandchildren – Tobias Barrick, Anjanette Barrick-Phillips and husband Frankie and Rachel Barrick; one great grandson – Isaiah Barrick and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Leavitt Family Center, 620 Avery Street, Parkersburg, West Virginia 26101. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg, West Virginia alongside his wife at the convenience of the family. The Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio is serving the family.
